Cinderella
Before reading the poem "Cinderella" written by Anne Sexton, I knew it had to do with the fairytale Cinderella we all grew up hearing about. I knew there definitely had to have a twist since the old story is overly heard and known about. What I liked most about this poem is Sexton's sarcastic tone as a whole. For example at the end of the poem when Sexton mocks the fact that Cinderella and her prince lived a life untouched by issues in marriages or kids. Something I also enjoyed was the extreme measures Cinderella's step sister underwent to please the expectations of the prince and to gain his love. Overall I would recommend this poem to someone who is interested in seeing Cinderella in a whole new light opposed to the happy ending we all know.
